WHAT IS KILLING AMERICA ?

Ralph Nader did a 3-year study of the chief causes of death in American hospitals. Nader came up with the figure of approximately 300,000 as the number of people who are killed each year as a result of medical negligence. If we killed that many in a war, there would be riots in the streets. During the Viet Nam war, there were riots in the streets - for 57,000 killed during the whole Viet Nam war era - and they were working at killing people! 6 times as many die in our hospitals yearly ...by accident. We have the finest doctors in the world, but mistakes do happen.

A medical report revealed on DATELINE recently estimated that adverse reactions to prescription drugs are killing about 106,000 Americans or more each year, roughly three times the amount that are killed by automobiles. [1] The report only included drugs that were given properly and under normal circumstances, excluding drugs that were administered in error.

(When errors of administration are included, the death toll may be as high as 140,000 per year.) [2] Such errors include prescribing the wrong drug or the wrong dosage; giving medications to the wrong person; giving medications to the right person but in the wrong quantities or wrong frequencies).
